Let's face it - as electrical as PCBs are, they are very much a mechanical creature. The components must be fitted into the board to avoid collisions during assembly and when the board interfaces with cables and enclosures. Beyond the board, mechanical considerations such as thermal and airflow issues can profoundly impact both the board and the system for which the board serves.
We can assist you in the mechanical aspects of your design, from component creation to system-level mechanical needs and everything in between. This is in-house, and we do not relegate this duty to another company.

We can design complex components specific to your project needs.
Custom Folded Sheet Metal
Sometimes, components are created in-house. This poses a challenge when such components cannot be easily downloaded from a third party. We cannot only render 3-D models for your footprints, but we can also design them.
Custom Cable to Fit Assembly
Regarding cabling for a system, we can draw the complete cable to help determine fitment.
Connectors and Cables to Ensure Clearance
When creating 3-D models for footprints, we can include the mating connector to ensure no clearance issues when assembling the board into the system.
Nine Dot Connects Rangefinder Case Design
Nine Dot Connects can create the enclosure for your design. In doing so, we can determine if additional "next step" assembly components will be needed. In this example, three extender pins will be needed to access the buttons on the daughter "shield" (Arduino's term for a daughter card).
Rigid-Flex Case Study
It is one thing to design rigid-flex cables; it is another to understand how they will be configured in the system. Before designing the rigid-flex cable, we can perform a case study to determine the optimal length and bend radius.
3-D Printing and Design Services
Nine Dot Connects can design parts for 3-D printing and even offers 3-D printing of prototypes.
In addition to creating 3-D images for print, we can also add conductive routes to the surface.
